I hope that everyone is staying safe in this difficult time. I just want to update everyone as to the latest information I have as we work through this pandemic.
As you all are aware the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists approved “Temporary Distance Learning” last week. There is a process that is required by our accreditation agency that details lesson plans, times, etc. That application for temporary approval for distance learning has been submitted to NACCAS. I expect approval any day now. The guidelines are pretty rigid and I will have more detail as we move forward.
The main issues will be, do you have a device necessary to be able to participate in a virtual classroom? Are you able to be in that virtual classroom uninterrupted until breaks, just as if you were in our classroom at school? Please take some time now to make the necessary adjustments needed so we are all ready to go when we get the approval. If you need to use one of our ChromeBooks, please email me so I can arrange for curbside pickup at the school one morning next week if needed.
Once we are given approval, our school will be considered open again by NACCAS and attendance rules will apply. You will have to log in on camera and stay live before we can issue hours. It is a pretty structured curriculum but will allow us to continue moving forward.
I also want to share with you that the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists are having a special meeting Friday March 27, 2020 @ 10 a.m. to discuss circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 virus and all issues surrounding how it is affecting our industry. I am hopeful that we will have some good news to report, so stay updated by checking our website often by going to the Students Tab then drop down to the Announcements Tab.
We miss you all. Stay safe, stay positive and we will get through this together.
